John has been taking photographs since
his uncle gave him his first camera (a Kodak Brownie) when he was 8 years old.
He loved the feeling of capturing a moment on film and the thought of being able to relive that moment forever.
As he grew a little older, John's father gave
him a newer camera (a 110 style) that was even easier to load and to take pictures with. Maybe it was too easy to press that little button because
John found himself wanting to take pictures of everything!
Through his teens and 20s John worked his way through a number of point-and shoot 35mm cameras, mostly taking pictures of friends and family, with varying levels of success.
In his 30s John graduated to a 35mm SLR camera and was immediately impressed with the improved control over the images. He pored over photography books and magazines, but the greatest learning came from experimenting with different film speeds, shutter speeds, and aperture values.
John currently uses 35mm
Digital SLR cameras, as well as a variety of lenses and lights.
He also spends some time working with Photoshop
to get his images exactly how he wants them. For a sample of
the equipment that John typically uses,

There is nothing John likes better than finding something that catches
his eye and then capturing that image with the camera. It gives him the most satisfaction when one of
his images moves a viewer.
All of this lets John combine his passion for photography with other interests of
his: travel, computers, and being in the great outdoors.
Some have asked John what his dream destination is. Currently, that would have to be The Great Wall of China.
He finds the images he has studied of it simply beautiful, and hopes to make a photographic compilation of various sections of The Wall in the future. Further dream spots are: the Galapagos Islands,
Iguaçu Falls (South America), Easter Island, and India.
There are literally hundreds of images on this online portfolio, with thousands more filed away.
We hope you like what you see and will come back often to view the new images
that will be added to the portfolio.
All
the best!
John
